Jamie Dixon, coach of the University of Pittsburgh’s men’s basketball team, called 911 early Wednesday morning to report a car accident on the Boulevard of the Allies near Veterans Bridge. Dixon came across the accident on the road, but was not involved in the crash. A second crash happened in the same area after the 911 call was made while Dixon was waiting to make sure that the people involved in the first accident were ok. Two people injured in the wreck were taken to Pittsburgh area hospitals. Officials believe that icy roads likely played a role in both accidents.
