Search Engine Optimization Company: Hyundai Recalls 470,000 Sonatas to Replace Engines

The Hyundai Sonata sedan model from years 2011 to 2012 that were equipped with a two-liter or 2.4 liter gasoline engine are being recalled due to a manufacturing problem that could cause the engine to fail. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), metal debris from the crankshaft area may not have been completely removed during manufacturing at the Alabama plant. As a result, oil flow to the connecting rod bearing can be restricted, which could cause the engine to fail, potentially causing a car accident. Thankfully, no accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of this issue with the engine.

The issue was discovered after owners of the Sonata began to hear a noise coming from the engine. Initially, Hyundai did not believe the issue to be a safety problem, but the NHTSA notified the company and expressed its concern over the potential for stalling at high speeds. Effective September 2, 2015, the company made the decision to recall the cars. Hyundai will replace the engine at no cost to the owners, and they will extend the engine warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles.
