Abby Wambach, retired soccer star, pleaded “not guilty” Tuesday to DUI charges in Portland, Oregon. Wambach was pulled over for a running a red light Saturday night, and police officers administered a field sobriety test after becoming suspicious that she was driving while under the influence of alcohol. After failing the field test, Wambach was taken into custody and transported to Portland’s Central Precinct where police say she failed a breath test. According to police, Wambach was “polite” and “cooperative” during the investigation and was released on her own recognizance. During a speaking event at the University of Kentucky on Wednesday morning, Wambach declined to discuss the details of her recent DUI arrest; however, she assured her fans that eventually “the truth will come out.”
