Rescuers spent two hours Monday afternoon working to free Cathrenia Moening (55) from her car after a collision with a UPS truck on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike left her trapped under an 18-wheeler. Moening’s mother (78), who was in the passenger seat, was able to get out the car before rescue crews arrived at the scene.
Moening had been travelling on the Northeast Extension when the UPS truck collided with her Mazda Miata as it was changing lanes. Moening’s car was stuck under the belly of the truck after the crash, and rescue crews had to remove the roof her car before they were able to free Moening from the wreckage. Moening and her mother were taken to Abington Memorial Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Moening expressed gratitude for her rescuers after the tractor-trailer accident.
