Internet Marketing Company PLM Reports on Deadly Superbug at UCLA

More than 160 patients may have been exposed to a deadly superbug by contaminated medical equipment at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.  The antibiotic-resistant superbug, CRE, was transmitted to patients via medical scopes use during endoscopic procedures between October 2014 and January 2015.  Seven infections have been confirmed, and two people have died after being infected with CRE at UCLA.

UCLA claims that the scopes were sterilized in accordance with manufacturer and national standards; however, they are now employing a more thorough decontamination process to clean the equipment.  According to the CDC, CRE can be fatal in up to half of infected people.  The 160 patients who may have been exposed to CRE have been notified, and home test kits have been mailed to them.  CRE infection symptoms include coughing, fever, and chills.
