Four children were hit by a truck Tuesday evening while they were playing on the 400 block of Chestnut Ave. in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey. After striking the children, the truck came to a stop when it crashed into woods alongside the road. The four children; a 15 year old girl, 8 year old boy, 4 year old girl and 4 year old boy, were taken to the Cooper Hospital’s trauma center to be treated for their injuries. The 8 year old underwent surgery for dental and jaw injuries he sustained in the accident. The other victims were treated for minor injuries and released.
The driver of the truck, 48 year old Hector Rios of Wenonah, New Jersey, has been charged with DUI, assault by auto while DWI, reckless driving and careless driving.
