A newborn baby, less than 24 hours old, suffered a skull fracture after he slipped and fell from a nurse’s hands at Uniontown Hospital in western Pennsylvania. The injured infant was airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh after the accident, where he is being treated for a minimally displaced skull fracture. The baby is expected to make a full recovery. The baby’s mother, Jacqueline Hunt, was told that her son was dropped by a nurse who fell asleep while she was seated and holding the newborn. Uniontown Hospital is conducting an internal investigation into the incident. Investigators will review the number of hours the nurse had been on duty to determine whether or not fatigue may have been a factor in the accident.
