Internet Marketing Company: Nine Infants Die after Heart Procedures at Florida Hospital

A CNN investigation into the high mortality rate of pediatric heart surgery patients at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Florida has revealed some disturbing discoveries.  Nine infants who underwent open heart surgery at St. Mary’s since 2011 have died as a result of their procedures.  According to CNN, the mortality rate for infants undergoing open heart procedures at St. Mary’s is 12.5%, three times the national average.  Parents of babies who have died after heart surgery at St. Mary’s allege that Dr. Michael Black, the program’s director, lied about his success rate and took on complicated operations that he did not have the experience to safely perform.  The parents of two-year-old Layla McCarthy say their daughter is lucky to be alive after complications from surgery performed by Dr. Black left her paralyzed when she was seven weeks old.  The McCarthy family has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against Dr. Black and St. Mary’s Medical Center.
