General Motors announced on Friday that it has issued a recall for a seatbelt flaw in almost 900,000 trucks. The recall applies to 2014 and 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks. No injuries related to the seatbelt problem have been reported; however, faulty seatbelts can result in serious auto accident injuries. GM decided to issue the recall based on warranty data which indicated that a steel cable connecting the seatbelt to the truck can become damaged through normal use over time. Customers who have purchased the affected vehicles can bring their trucks to a GM dealer to have the problem fixed. GM will cover the cost of fixing all recalled Chevy and GMC trucks, and the company has said that the cost will be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty reserves.
