A high school soccer star with a promising future was killed on Sunday when he was struck by a New Jersey Transit train near the Hamilton train station. Why 18-year-old Jacob J. St. Phard, known as Coby, was on the train tracks Sunday night is not known. An investigation into the deadly train accident is ongoing.
Coby was a senior at Notre Dame High School in Lawrence Township where he led the school’s soccer team in assists and had the second highest scoring record in 2015. He had recently signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania in the fall.
The NJ Transit train which struck and killed Coby Sunday evening was en route to Morrisville, Pennsylvania for maintenance with three crew members and no passengers onboard.
